Suggestions?

Sorry that I haven't made a post in a while due to my busy schedule but I'm going to have a little free time coming up and was wondering if there was a particular sound that you would like me to create?

8-Bit Chiptune Synth

Hi everyone!

Today I decided to do a tutorial on how to make an 8-bit chiptune synth using Vacuum. First we are going to go to VTO 1 and set the range to 8, the shape of PW50, and the fine tune to about 3 o’clock. Next go down to VTO 2 and copy the range and shape settings but this time turn the fine tune down to about 9 o’clock.

'Ionic' Gel Speaker

Hello everyone!

In furthering my search on the thermophone( that I discussed in a previous post) I came across an article on Huffington Post (Flexible Ultra-Thin 'Ionic' Gel Speaker) about another similar speaker in development by a team lead by Zhigang Suo at Harvard University.

Brass Horn Synthesis

Welcome back, everyone!

Today we will be discussing brass horn synthesis using Massive but as always keep in mind that these parameters can be used in other plug-ins to create similar sounds. This synth is going to use two oscillators and two filters with a little bit of modulation.

Thermophone (the Carbon Nano Tube Loudspeaker)

What if I were to tell you that in the future magnetic cone speakers would be replaced by a paper thin cone with no electromagnets or any moving parts for that matter? Sounds like science fiction doesn't it? Well this could become a reality with some old but revisited theories regarding thermoacoustic energy transmission.

Show Me The Money

Welcome back to the Sound Synthesis Architect!

Yesterday I was reading an article posted by Erik Magrini of Inner Portal Studio entitled "Yes But You Have To Pay Me." In a nut shell, the article describes how success in the music industry takes vigilance and hard work which distances us from our friends and followers. The most unfortunate part of this is that it takes up most of our time and in turn we are no longer able to dedicate time to having discussions with fans and lose contact with our friends.

The 9 O'Clock Synth (aka the Funky Electro Stab)

Welcome back to the Sound Synthesis Architect!

Today we are going to create a funky electro stab in Massive. I call this the 9 o’clock synth and you will soon see why. As always, this can also be created using other VSTs that offer the same or similar parameters.

Response to Going Deeper: 25 Hz is the new 50 Hz

Welcome back to the Sound Synthesis Architect!

I was recently reading an article, Going Deeper: 25 Hz Is the New 50 Hz, posted by Doug Fowler, a moderator of the ProSoundWeb LAB forums and professional audio engineer of 30+ years. In this article he talks about taking single-ended measurements of various forms of electronic dance music at Ultra Festival a couple years back.

Quiztones App Review

Welcome back to the Sound Synthesis Architect!

Today I wanted to introduce you guys to an awesome application that I found for my smartphone (yes, I finally caved and purchased a smartphone). I came across this great application called Quiztones (it is all one word if you were wondering if I typed it right) which is an ear training app for audio professionals to learn to identify specific frequencies.

Snare Synthesis: Part 2 - Snare Top

Welcome back to the Sound Synthesis Architect!

In this installation we are going to create a top snare instrument to combine with our snare body instrument that we created in Snare Synthesis: Part 1 – Snare Body.

Snare Synthesis: Part 1 - Snare Body

Welcome back to the Sound Synthesis Architect!

Today I will be walking you through the creation of a snare using Native Instrument’s Massive. Remember that these synths can be created using other synthesizers with similar parameters.
