8-Bit Chiptune Synth

Hi everyone!

Today I decided to do a tutorial on how to make an 8-bit chiptune synth using Vacuum. First we are going to go to VTO 1 and set the range to 8, the shape of PW50, and the fine tune to about 3 o’clock. Next go down to VTO 2 and copy the range and shape settings but this time turn the fine tune down to about 9 o’clock.

In the mixer section you should have both oscillator levels all the way up. Next go over to the low pass filter and set the cutoff to about 2:30, the slope to 24, and the resonance to noon.

Now we’re going to set up the envelopes so go down to envelope 1 and bring the attack all the way down, the decay all the way up, the sustain all the way up, and the release to about 9 o’clock. For envelope 2 we’re going to bring the attack all the way down, the decay to about noon, the sustain all the way up, and the release all the way down.

This is the last official post for my class, however, I will continue to post to this blog but the frequency may be a little more spaced out as I find interesting things to share. If you have any suggestions for synthesis tutorials please send me a PM and I will do my best to get a post up as quickly as possible.

Happy synthesizing!
